Throughout 2021, I ran a series of online talks about writing. I’m currently taking a break from these to work on my own writing (though I’m still doing talks and readings with other organisations), but I’m hoping to bring them back in the not-too-distant future.
Archive material below:
Throughout the year, I’ll be joined by a range of other writers, each chatting in depth about an aspect of the craft of writing – from plot and structure, to character and voice, to what it takes to get a novel published. Whether you’re a writer yourself, or a reader who’s just interested in the strange alchemy of what makes writers tick, come along & listen to the conversation. I’m thinking of it as a kind of chat show, because honestly, writers don’t get nearly enough opportunity to feel like celebrities.
Guests include Women’s Prize longlisted author Yvonne Battle-Felton, Golden Dagger Award-winner M W Craven, children’s writer Rashmi Sirdeshpande, novelist Molly Aitken, and award-winning poet & novelist Helen Mort.

[autumn chats TBA]
Each chat will focus on a different aspect of the craft of writing. Whether you’re a writer, a reader, or someone with a general interest in the creative process, we’d love to have you there. Don’t forget to bring your own tipple of choice (coffee or cocktails – either works for us)!
Ticket cost: £5 (+ eventbrite booking fee)
I’ve kept the ticket cost low, to make these workshops affordable for as many people as possible. But there are also a limited number of free tickets available for those unable to pay – drop me a message here if you would like one.
Events are auto-captioned using Otter.
For other talks & readings I’m giving outside of my chat show, check out my other upcoming events.
