The Write Chat

Throughout 2021, I’m running a series of online talks about writing!

Throughout the year, I’ll be joined by a range of other writers, each chatting in depth about an aspect of the craft of writing – from plot and structure, to character and voice, to what it takes to get a novel published. I’m thinking of it as a kind of chat show, because honestly, writers don’t get nearly enough opportunity to feel like celebrities.

Guests include Women’s Prize longlisted author Yvonne Battle-Felton, Golden Dagger Award-winner M W Craven, children’s writer Rashmi Sirdeshpande, novelist Molly Aitken, and award-winning poet & novelist Helen Mort – with more to be announced!

Upcoming Chats:

Thursday 21st January, 7pm-8pm: What does it take to write a book?
With Rashmi Sirdeshpande & Helen Mort

Thursday 18th February, 7pm-8pm: Setting & Place
With M W Craven

March chat TBA – watch this space!

Thursday 22nd April, 7pm-8pm: Crafting Characters
With Yvonne Battle-Felton & Molly Aitken

[later chats TBA]

Each chat will focus on a different aspect of the craft of writing. Whether you’re a writer, a reader, or someone with a general interest in the creative process, we’d love to have you there. Don’t forget to bring your own tipple of choice (coffee or cocktails – either works for us)!

Ticket cost: £5 (+ eventbrite booking fee)

I’ve kept the ticket cost low, to make these workshops affordable for as many people as possible. But there are also a limited number of free tickets available for those unable to pay – drop me a message here if you would like one.

Alongside these talks, I’ll also be running monthly writing workshops, which you can find out about here.
