Fellfoot Fables (2020)

The North Pennines AONB Partnership, through the Fellfoot Forward Scheme, set up Fellfoot Fables, with the aim of hearing the future voices of Fellfoot, and getting a sense of people’s responses to landscape during lockdown.

Keeping within government guidelines on social distancing, we asked those involved to look closely at their own corner of the North Pennines AONB and the Eden Valley – to record their experience of home during this period of change.

For this project, I produced a series of workshop sessions for people to do at home, delivered through videos and worksheets – helping participants produce a poem or piece of creative prose, exploring their immediate environment. The sessions are tailored for both primary age KS2 children and the wider community.

Through the project, children from three schools wrote poetry in response to their experience of lockdown in their local landscape – around a third of whom also achieved Arts Award Discover.
